About This Course
Welcome to our free UK Forestry Standard support. This resource has been developed to support woodland owners and managers to better understand and be able to implement the requirements, best practice and guidance set out in the UK Forestry Standard, and how these support sustainable woodland management.
This resource has been set out as a short course to learn about the UK Forestry Standard, but is also available as a reference guide to support woodland management planning (you will have access to the full support on enrolment), and includes:
- Why the UK Forestry Standard is important and how to use and navigate it
- Where to find specific information within each of the UK Forestry Standard subject chapters
- Case studies and worked examples for each of the UK forestry Standard subject chapters
- Additional resources
The UK Forestry Standard is a document that relates to the whole of the UK, however, in this course our examples are all England based. This does not mean they are not relevant in Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland but that the legislation and guidance mentioned may be different in the other nations.

Evolving Forests (Video development and creation)
Evolving Forests work focuses on resilient future forestry through the development of innovative localised supply chains, and storytelling with film and other media. Consisting of foresters, ecologists, filmmakers, and built environment professionals the team are well placed to work along all areas of the resilient forestry and timber value chains. At Evolving Forests, we live to craft a deeper, more symbiotic relationship between humans and the trees we share the landscape with. The teamwork with people that want to use more timber but in a more considered way and with people who want to grow trees for the benefit of the ecosystem, society, and beyond.
